Another First from TÜBİTAK: Blockchain Competition

The Blockchain Competition was held for the first time at ANFAŞ International Fair and Congress Center in Antalya between 5-8 September 2024

The Blockchain Competition, which was held for the first time this year in cooperation with TÜBİTAK Informatics and Information Security Advanced Technologies Research Center (BİLGEM) and TÜBİTAK Science and Society Directorate (BİTO), was held at ANFAŞ International Fair and Congress Center in Antalya between 5-8 September 2024.

The main purpose of the competition, whose mission is to reveal the potential of blockchain technology, which is seen as an important tool that will shape the technological transformation of the future and can be used in a wide range of fields from crypto asset systems to decentralized autonomous organizations, and to enable young people to showcase their talents in this field, is to increase the knowledge and trained manpower in our country.

It is important for blockchain technology to become widespread in our country and to investigate its application areas on real problems. For this reason, the scope of the Blockchain Competition was kept quite wide. The competition has a content that aims to both advance the blockchain technology itself and to produce solutions to real-world problems in digital identity, finance, supply chain, DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations), origin tracing and other application areas using blockchain technology.

This year; High Performance and Scalable Distributed Ledger Infrastructures, Privacy of Data and Transactions in Blockchain Systems, Digital Wallets, Blockchain solutions in some selected application areas and Web3 Developer and Community Tools. Participants were given the opportunity to explore different aspects of blockchain technology and develop innovative solutions.

In the competition, which also received international applications, projects were evaluated in terms of added value and innovation, use of technology, applicability, widespread impact and sustainability.

Project teams that qualified to pass the first stage were offered the opportunity to "receive short-term training or mentoring". The finalist teams were given the opportunity to "meet with experts or managers in the sector" and/or "participate in short-term internship programs".

233 teams applied for the competition and 30 finalist teams qualified for the final stage to be held in Antalya.

The first team in the competition was awarded 100.000TL, the second team 80.000TL and the third team 60.000TL. In addition, the advisor of the first team was awarded 9.000TL and the advisor of the second team was awarded 7.500TL and the advisor of the third team was awarded 6.000TL.

The awards will be given at TEKNOFEST Aviation, Space and Technology Festival, which will be held at Adana Şakirpaşa Airport between Wednesday, October 2, 2024 and Sunday, October 6, 2024.

On Sunday, an award ceremony was held with the participation of Selçuk Bayraktar, Chairman of TEKNOFEST Board of Directors. Çukurova Blockchain team received the best presentation award at the ceremony.
